Important Things To Remember for 2011-2012

  1. NBS, (National Benefit Services) will serve as the NEW Third Party Administrator (TPA) for Texarkana ISD’s Cafeteria Plan for the Plan year the runs from September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2012. A stored value Debit Card is available for the Medical Reimbursement Accounts and there is a $1.50 monthly fee. IMPORTANT: These accounts are “USE IT OR LOSE IT.” Plan your contributions carefully! Rmember to keep ALL receipts in the event you are asked to prove the expenses were for eligible expenses. Additional information on this plan is available under the Benefits and Forms link.


  2. ALL EMPLOYEES are required to complete the online enrollment process to continue benefit elections. The time period for your Spring open enrollment is April 25th – May 20th, and enrollment representatives will be available to assist you May 2nd through the 6th.


  3. Texarkana ISD’s Cafeteria plan year is September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012. All new coverage is effective September 1, 2011.


  4. The NEW Dental carrier effective September 1 will be CIGNA. There is a High Option that pays up to $1000/year and a Low Option that pays up to $500/year. See plan information under the Benefits and Forms link for details on plan options and cost summary.


  5. The Cancer insurance coverage is being offered through American Public Life (APL) for the coming year. The coverage is guaranteed issue but pre-existing limitations will apply. There are two options available and an Optional ICU Rider. See plan information under the Benefits and Forms link.


  6. The District is again offering a Vision plan with Superior Vision. There is a $10 Exam Co-pay and a $25 Materials co-pay when a Superior Vision provider is selected. See more information and monthly premiums under the Benefits and Forms link.


  7. The District continues to offer the Long Term Disability for all eligible employees at no cost. The carrier for the LTD and Short Term Disability is ING. If you wish to enroll in the Short Term Disability plan, you will need to complete the health application and be approved for coverage. See the benefits and forms link for additional information.


  8. ING will continue as the group term life carrier this year. New employees may insure themselves up to 7 times salary or $150,000; spouses up to $50,000 and children up to $10,000 without completing a health application. All new amounts of coverage are subject to health underwriting and an application must be completed. See the benefit plan summary for more information on cost and coverage.
